Hello,

I live in South Africa, this means that when most of the world is going into Autumn we are going into Spring. This makes me wonder if Samhain should be on a different time frame for us than for the rest of the world? The same would apply to other yearly festivities and sabbats etc. We also do not celebrate Halloween in this country either, nor many of those like "thanks giving" like the people living in other countries.

Logic tells me that why are we celebrating the harvesting of crop when we are only just going to plant new crop - lol. Hmm, I think we need a celtic calender that pertains to the different sectors of this globe we call earth. Maybe then we won't get confused and celebrate illogically.

Any suggestions?

If you've no one local, I'd try and contact someone in Australia which will have a similar seasonal pattern. The seasons referred to earlier in this thread are northern hemisphere ones, and clearly out of kilter with where you are.

I know the Australians have worked out an alternative calendar which is in sync with the southern cycles - and there are a fair few of them (Australian practitioners, that is), so they shouldn't be too hard to track down.
