Ashwanga ( I think I spelled that right) is supposed to be good for the thyroid, but..... It is very rare that an herb can take the place of medication. Especially in this case. Underactive or overactive, the thyroid is nothing to play with It can have very serious health repercussions further down the road.

...like April said, pres. meds might be best mainly to regulate the hormone levels. If you want to supplement your meds you could make a tinkture out of
bladderwrack (kelp)
iceland moss
oat straw
saw palmetto berries
calamus root
and take 10 drops of this 3 times a day inbetween meals.

Also for some of the side effects St. John's wort and L-tryptophan are good for anxiety and insomnia and cayenne pepper or horseradish are good for poor blood circulation and, while I'm at it, Black Cohosh is good for infertility, PMS, and menepause.....

Hey girls, Thanks for the recipes for thyroid meds. April, I completely understand what you said about the herbs not taking the place of meds but right now my insurance is in need of fixing. While I am waiting I will take the supplements. Greatly enough though I have been taking bladder wrack and it has alleviated many of the side effects I was experiencing. I am also working on this physician heal thyself thing as well and it has tremendous results. I definitely know not to play with my thyroid though as I have seen what waiting to treat it will bring. So has anyone come up with any love letters for Dr love? The greatest spell caster in the world. I am still looking for a love lorn troll to write him about. Any takers? I have over active thyroid, have had it for almost 20 years now, this was brought on by not eating enough salt with Iodine in it, you have to have Iodine to have proper thyroid function, also if you start taking meds the doctor perscribes dont do Generic, if you do expect poor results, and once you start taking the meds after a year your thyroid will go away and you have to take them for the rest of your life.
I have heard of people useing there hand to massage there thyroid and help it to keep working, not to sure of that though, ill see what i can find and send you some info on how to heal yourself if i can find the info, good luck, Allen.
