Ok, now I got one for you all.....Well, I have to reach back to a thread w/ astral travel etc.
and I was thinking about some things. Now when I post this it is just to find some answers (if anybody knows) or just to get a discussion going....

I once said that I don’t have the ability to astral travel. April told me that I most likely do but just think it as dreaming. Ok, maybe I do, maybe I don’t. I’m old school and don’t know much about i-ching, chakras etc.

Anyways here is the thing....if one is astral traveling they leave their body behind and go wherever they choose. Correct me if I’m wrong here... So, if the empty shell is just laying around so to speak, would it be possible for another astral traveler to go into that empty shell if they would chose to? Or even a wandering spirit? Would that be considered body snatching?

So ok I had to really think about this and try to put it in some kind of order. Cause this is what I understand of things.

Astral travel is different from the shamanic journey. In shamanic journey work you set up protections for your body and make sure that it will be safe while you are gone from it. This is because during one of these journeys, an entity or other shaman may come in and take your body. Heard it done before, never seen it.

In my experience astral travel is one of two things, Something we can just do, or something we have to learn. For me it was just something I could do. I've never worried about my physical body when dealing in astral, well, because it never really felt like I'd left it behind. It has always felt like it was right there with me. Of course this is in the astral journies that I remember.

Maybe someone else has a different experience?

Thanks, April! I still don't get the difference between Astral Travel and Shamanic Travel. They are the same to me!? Why does one use "protection" in one but not the other and how can you take your body with you?
I guess this "old dog" can't grasp the concept

I only have extremely limited experience in this area - accidental projections whilst ill - so I'm not really qualified to say much first hand.

That said, a good friend of mine, a very scientifically minded sort, once set out to prove to himself projection was all rubbish by trying it out only to find himself halfway across town and at home at the same time.

On the issue of possession whilst projecting. Gavin and Yvonne Frost write that this is a real issue and recommend permanent protection as most people project during sleep at some point.

Thanks Julien....So, if I understand you correctly you are saying that we have to have permanent protection every night just in case?
Also, theroretically it would be possible for an entity or other traveler to claim your empty body. So, if that would happen, how would one get his/her body back?

As I say, I've little personal experience in this area. The Frosts have written that once projected, if you wait beside a sleeping person, at some point they will project themselves. It is then just a matter of slipping into their body and taking it for a drive (just as some might a car left idling at the side of the road).

Returning, they say, is simply the reverse, drift out and go back to your own body. They claim this is the ultimate tool for understanding someone, as you are operating their brain and body for the duration. Hence their recommendation for permanent protection ( I believe they favour a protective talisman - but don't take my word on this, it is many years since I read their book on the subject), as you are vulnerable to being under another's control if you are the possessed in this way.

I would have thought that someone taking over your body would be unlikely to linger too long, as that would leave their own shell vulnerable to your machinations also. As for driving them out - I don't recall them saying, but if I remember rightly, they discussed this whole business in their book on astral projection
