Greetings. Many of you may wonder what I am up to now...well I thought about this thread and maybe we get a variety of thoughts on this subject. So, here is mine....
At that time that I decided to come out about Witchcraft or more specifically conjure I was also thinking ahead about when I would be allowed to start taking on clientele and charging for my services. Early in my career, I was not allowed to charge for my help. I could make them buy the stuff needed for spells and rituals but that was it. I had to do a certain amount of rites, spells and readings FREE to earn the right to later on charge for my services.
Today you get a lot of McWiccans who moan about a Witch charging for Sorcery but I tell them they're full of themselves and ignorant of the Old Ways of which they claim they're part of. NOVICES cannot charge for Magic; fully Initiates as well as Elders most certainly CAN charge! If an Elder or full Initiate chooses not to charge for help, then that's their right to do so BUT for these same individuals to point fingers and say it's wrong, they're just showing how ignorant they really are.

It depends on the person wanting things done and the situation. For example....
I usually charge for tarot readings unless the person wanting the reading is a freind or someone I know is involved in "the craft". I don't do spell work for others except under certain circumstances, so no worries there.

I think it is a good idea to charge for your services, i charge when i make a cabinet for someone and word of mouth will help your buisness to grow.

Takes less time to do it right than to do it over.

I wanted to get the opinions of members from different path to see where they stand on that issue and maybe get a discussion going. Thanks for your support! Romana

Although I'm only quoting part of the post, I can't find anything to quibble with, beyond the legal implications. As I understand it, you have to keep one eye out for the law when charging for this kind of work, as many consider it fraudulent.
As for the interesting attitude that it is wrong to charge, I'm with the chap who said "Common sense, evermore reliable than esoteric tradition, says that if a labourer is worthy of his hire, he is also worth his keep.
