I was raised Luthern (kinda like Catholic without the Pope.) My problem with the Bible was all the genocides, whole nations wiped out just because they didn't believe like the Hebrews did. And why should they? Are there any accounts of the Ammonites or Hittites being given commandments carved into stone by God, or being given personal instruction on how to worship God? No, and yet they were destroyed because they didn't abide by the rules they never heard.

As to "the Devil made me do it": the Devil is the Prince of Lies and the Great Deceiver. If he uses lies and deceit to trick or entice people to do wrong, then I guess in that regard we could say the Devil made us do it. A person can be fooled into doing something wrong, and think they are doing something totally right. A terrorist would be a prime example.

Not really, LoL. It is a discussion about Evil Vs Good and whenever you get on the topic it always leads to Satan as the representative of Evil and since Satan is a product of the Bible...well follow the yellow brick road.

As for the whole "Devil made me do it"... I never found that to be a beleivable excuse. Not even when I was a child and SO Baptist (of the independent fundamental variety) that... Well let's just say I was as rabid as an Al-Qaeda follower.
He couldn't make anyone do anything, now he could do things to you (with permission) but free will meant you chose.

As for the terrorist thing... Ever stop to think that they don't beleive that what they are doing is evil or even wrong?
The rest of us are and they are just following their God's mandates on what to do with us. From their perspective we are the bad evil people.
