Re:THOUGHTS ON MEDITATION 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 17
Not really, Desmond. My point was that one has to humble oneself in order to get ahead. our life is a constant learing thing and sometimes we need the help of others who are more experienced than we are. Everybody does not know everything and that's why one has to "humble" oneself and ask!

Not-yet-named, I can imagine it is hard with smaller children etc. I have done that for 35+yrs, first my children and then the grandchildren. Now since the past year I have the time to do what I want to do. So, hang in there and it will get better

Aw, shit, I have to wait until after the grandchildren!?!

Desmond, in the 'pre-tech era' those who dedicated their lives to study under a single master tended to be male. Women were not considered capable of deep thought. We were relegated to following the teachings of others. And, yes, children really get in the way.

Just a thought, why is it that so many hospitals are based on gatherings of nuns and not monks? Could it be that the nuns actually helped people get better? Get a bunch of women together and things get done. Do the same with a bunch of men and we get, what, government?

Sorry; rant, rant, rant, rave, rave, rave. Okay, better now. Breath in, breath out, repeat.

I don't know if you have to wait until you have grandchildren it just took that long with me....hopefully you will be better of - timewise - I mean.

Guess that's why most of us call on the feminine divine to get stuff done.....

It is very interesting point you have. Its realy iteresting to see what in the world is based on which sex.

IQ = Male, Empathy = Female, Daycare/scool = female, President= Male, Technology= male, The clockwork = Female.

That's ok, Desmond. A lot of people have difficulties in following my thought pattern.

All this technology to speed up the process. Centuries ago one had to take a couple decades out of their life to study at the feet of a master. Now we seek to achieve the same results by plugging into a program paid for in "three easy payments of $99.99!"

I'm all for diversity of training and there isn't enough time to do that the old fashioned way. Technology was supposed to make our lives easier. I miss the pre-technology pace of life. However, every time I try to slow down and just take it all in I see my to-do list (or someone yells "Mommmmmmmmm" and I'm back to the post-technology crazy pace.

Hm. I think I'm seeing why I haven't found time to meditate lately. This is a good argument for finding a teacher with a quiet place already set up and then scheduling the time to be there. Oh, that's right, back to the problem of "$99.99."

Don't let the technology fool you. It's still not fast or easy. The meditation by it's self won't fix everything either, there will be lots of hard work and turmoil to get where you want to be.
