Work your way through the complex layers of outcome that can manifest through the specific actions of a spell, so that no harm can be inadvertently done to anyone down the line of its effect, can be frustrating at times. Cause and affect can play like the final snowflake at the top of an avalanche slope if you are not careful. In order to prevent inadvertent backlash from the spells we do is of great concern. The best offense in magic and Witchcraft is an impenetrable defense. To avoid negative feedback you need to rid yourself of the emotions that would cause you to think ill of anyone. Casting a spell intentionally directing it to throw back on an attacker can leave a vulnerability as it does create a chance of a rebound through the bit of anger/negative emotion you felt when casting. Sometimes, rather than cast the spells someone may want, do a more harmless one instead. For instance, a situation where someone is being abrasive or abusive on whatever level should be dealt with kindly. Instead of trying to bind someone to stop subconscious attacks, instead cast a spell that they may be able to see and recognize the truth of their actions. It is a spell of enlightenment that should lead a person to learning more about himself or herself. The more you know, the greater you can grow. This merely releases the recipient from delusions so they can improve their lives. Protection spells are a perfect defense to create in that they can be constructed so that it only effects those responsible for an attack. The beauty of this spell is that you can generate them without the recipient's knowledge as that negates the potential of them being harmed by backlash from their personal feeling for anyone. Creating the reciprocal energy field to multiply the attack force by three manifests in the results of the 'Rule of Three' of the Wiccan way. A bubble of protection, when cast around the person you are guarding, rebounds any negative energy. It is a one-way magical device in that it does not fall under the influence of the recipient's conscious so there are no modifiers placed on its effectiveness. Regardless of who wishes the person harm, it will backlash to its origins leaving the target unaware and not responsible that someone attacked him. It is a 'if they did it, they deserved it' approach. A 'Love Spell' can actually be performed that does not engender the entrapment of anyone is done instead one creates the energy field that will effect two people. One, the person you know that you are doing it for and the other person that will be drawn to the union. Set up a spell that will draw the person that is not only perfect for your friend but that will in turn also be the one that is perfect for the other person. No harm, no foul, just real love. As for the rest of what you said... I think there has been some misunderstanding. You make it sound like some of us you've been talking to just go off and don't care about who it impacts. Not true. The implementation of spellwork is always done with the utmost care and consideration. Just because it may appear to cross that Wiccan "An' it harm none line" doesn't mean that it was done on the spur of the moment, or that it was not completely justified. ANY spellwork MUST be thought out before it is done. Any problem that requires "darker work" must have already been addressed through other means first. After all there is not one person here that wants to hurt anyone over a misunderstanding, or a simple mistake. There are plenty here who will share their knowlege and wisdom if you will listen and not get caught up in Dogma. After all, Dogmatic breakdown is why most of us have come to magic and Witchcraft to begin with. When you dig your heels in on a point of view, you lose the ability to grow, to let your universe expand, and to become connected with another living being. It is by looking through anothers eyes and taking a look at anything through their perspective that we come to understand one another. At your stage in this I know it is difficult, after all your universe is already being taxed with new ideas and thought forms. But you must understand that several of us have been there already. We have gone through this process, sometimes more than once, and we only want to help you through it. As for mirror spells... First if you are casting this when you are feeling powerless, well, there won't be any power to your charm. If you are putting limitations on the spell, then it will only work within those perameters. If you are surrounding yourself with mirrors and you are feeling nothing but negativity, even if you are trying to supress it, then that is all that you will perceive. Most who are new to psychic self defense make the mistake of mirroring both sides of that wall they put up. Not realizing that they will be reflecting back at themselves what they are feeling, and how they view themselves. We can think that we are pretty worthless creatures, be sunk in the pits of despair and not realize it. Or worse... Not want to admit it. So while ther is nothing wrong with this spell, you could be getting your own crap thrown back at you because you are the one throwing it at you in the first place. We all have crap that we carry around and we all tend to throw it at ourselves from time to time, so don't be offended. Take this response as an opportunity. Although one may beleive in spells of protection, it may not always manifest to banish an evil or dark entity or prevent harm from befalling an individual.

I'm not quite certain what you are getting at here, but...
Spells of protection and psychic self deffense always work. The caveat is that you have to know what you are protecting yourself from. I place a circle of protection around my car before I drive off. It works. How do I know? I haven't had a car accident in several years and the couple I did have before that ( I was really preoccupied that week)were so minor that there wasn't even paint damage on either car. No I didn't hit someone else either. I both cases they hit me. When we start talking about "evil" or "dark entities" it's a completely different game. Most of what we perceive as evil or harmful really does come from inside of ourselves. They are usually the "shadow self" trying to manifest and get your attention. We tend to deposite those thoughts and feelings we don't like or want to deal with in the "shadow self". Eventually these things have to be faced. When we turn and face what lies in the shadows then we can begin to understand the nature of ourselves and the universe around us.

Protection spells are the things I usually do. Why can't I make the spell "Mirror of protection, mirror of reflection, may the sender of all harm feel the power of your charm" work? There is nothing wrong with this spell. If someone sends me harmful energy than it should be send back to whomever sends it.
