The Cornerstones of Power

Regardless of the specific path you choose to travel in your magical life, there are a few basic concepts that must be reinforced and meshed together to make your workings strong. Early instructors have called these four principles "The Witches Pyramid". This powerful Tower of Magical Ability consists of three sides labeled, Imagination, Will, and Faith. At the center, holding it all together is the essential element of Secrecy.

For anyone who seeks to learn the ways of manipulating the forces of reality and bending them to their desires, a vivid Imagination is of paramount necessity. It is through your imagination that you will be able to visualize and see just what you are seeking and the ways by which it will materialize. Without a strong and creative imagination you will have difficulty focusing your energies. Unfocused desires will leave too wide an interpretation for the manifest results of your work. You must create within your mind exactly what it is you want or you may end up with something that, while somewhat fitting the definition of your request, will not be what you actually wanted.

Working the Psychic Muscles
One of the fascinating things about our bodies is that the more you work and exercise its muscles, the stronger they become. A lesser-known, or at least acknowledged, part of the makeup of the human body is the inherent psychic tendencies of our minds. Coupling the few pounds of gray matter in your skull with the cognitive abilities our mind can perform with it creates not only analytical thought but an element of metaphysical extension as well. As with the need to work and practice with our physical bodies to reach maximum performance, we must also work the mind and brain to achieve our maximum potential with it as well.

Not only magic workers, but the mainstream scientific researchers as well, have an understanding of the power of meditation. While the scientist only acknowledges these benefits on the body in lowered stress levels and improved thought, the practicing magician must realize that through the act of quiet meditation we forge stronger bonds between our minds, bodies and spirit. The more we practice this inner-looking technique, the greater the understanding and awareness of the subtle psychic energies we can access and manipulate.

Be Careful What You Ask For
Nowhere in human existence is the old phrase, "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it!" more true and important than in the working of magic. Considering the capricious nature of so many of the forces one deals with in the Craft, precision in the wording of your spells and incantations is essential. Even the more benign spirits may provide you with something very different than you wanted if your wording is vague enough to allow wide interpretation of the conditions of your desire.

Spoken language does have its limitations. With only a set number of sound combinations we are able to produce, communication requires that many words carry multiple meanings that are determined by the context of the surrounding sentence. Other words utilize the same sound while having various, totally unrelated, meanings. Into this amalgam of ever-evolving language forms one must overlay the cultural specific slang terms that comprise a great deal of our spoken heritage.

The Importance of Salt in the Magical Life
One does not have to venture far into the world of magic and witchcraft to find references to using salt for the purpose of purification. The use of this basic mineral in practical, ritual and religious matters can be traced all the way back into the fogs of pre-history. Salt has been almost universally accepted and used for this purpose despite the cultural differences or distance between ancient civilizations.

In an older world, with an entirely different view of science than the modern all-material outlook of the Industrial Revolution, it was discovered that salt was a perfect physical representation of the element of Earth. On the purely mundane level of the physical level of reality, salt acts as a preservative, creating an environment hostile to the growth of putrefying forces. We know them as bacteria.

Learn Your Karmic Lessons 1
Karmic Lessons deal with a person’s weakness. It helps determine the areas we need to work on and how to strengthen them.

In Karmic Lessons, we have what we call Karmic Strength which is your Hidden Passion. It is the number that appears most frequently in your name. When one or more of the nine single digit numbers, known as “master numbers” in Numerology, are missing in your full birth name then those numbers are part of your Karmic Lesson Chart.

Expose Your Inner Dreams
There may be times that you wanted something so bad that you feel your entire being vibrating to achieve it. These are your inner desires showing itself. Other times, these hidden dreams and fantasies are manifested in your dreams. Numerology can help you determine what these inner dreams and desires are.

If in finding your Heart Desire you use the vowels in your full birth name, the consonants in your name are used to know your inner dreams and desires. This number is also associated with one’s personality and how people perceive you on a first meeting.

What’s In a Wiccan Name?
Names are words we use to identify or represent something or someone. Obtaining a name implies a change of direction or the acquisition of new learning. In the Wicca society names are also used. These magical or craft names are used by practitioners during rituals or when they are with their coven. Historically, in the Craft, names are used for secrecy and safety purposes.

Nowadays, acquiring a Craft or Wiccan name is not necessary. However, some believe that getting a Craft name allows them to connect more to their magical self.  A craft name is a representation of what they have achieved while practicing the Craft. Getting a craft name symbolizes rebirth. A craft or Wiccan name sends a vibration identifying who you are and, more often than not, you imbibe the name you have chosen. Naming yourself “Fox” will make you feel more elusive or the name “Pixie” will make you more ethereal.

Wiccan Holidays and Festivals
There are eight festivals observed by the Wiccans. They refer to these festivals as Sabbats. From the eight festivals in the Wheel of the Year, four fall on the Solstices and Equinoxes. This period is called “quarter days” or “Lesser Sabbats”. The rest, that fall midway between these periods, are called “Greater Sabbats”.

Winter Solstice or Yule occurs right around December 22.  It is considered as the time of greatest darkness and is the longest night of the year.

On February 22, Wiccans celebrate Imbolc, also referred to as Candlemas. It is time on the Wheel of the Year associated with the beginning of growth. It is also one of the four “Fire Festivals” in the Wheel. Traditionally, it is the time for initiations in the Wiccan society.

Right around March 20 to 23 is the Spring Equinox or Ostara. Before Ostara is Candlemas and followed by Beltane.

Following Ostara is Beltane which is the other “Fire Festival” or Greater Sabbats. This festival signifies fertility and is celebrated around April 30 or May 1.

Show Your Hidden Passion and Heart Desire
What you most value in life regardless of your Life Path and expression can be determined through a number called Heart Desire. Also know as the Soul Urge, this number is obtained from the vowels in your full birth name.

Just like getting your Birth Name Number, each vowel corresponds to a specific core number. The letters “Y” and “W” are also used to determine your Heart Desire. The letter “Y” is used when there is no other vowel in a syllable, for example Lordelyn (Lor-de-lyn). On the other hand, “w” is used when a word paired up with a vowel produces a single sound, for example Paw.
